What makes a cutter knife special?

Cutter knives are available in a wide variety of designs, with a simple or ergonomic handle, with segment blades, hook blades or fixed blades. However, they all have two features in common - the blade retraction and the bevelled blade with a wedge angle of usually 14°.

When the knife is not in use, the blade retracts into the special handle so that it no longer poses a safety risk. With some of these knives, also known as safety knives, the blade retraction works automatically by means of a spring as soon as the thumb is released from the slider. With other cutters, the blade has to be pushed back manually. When used correctly, these knives are extremely practical and safe.

9 mm blades

Cutter knives with a blade width of 9 millimetres do a good job for delicate work. Whether in model making or for cutting film, paper and cardboard - carpet knives of this size are excellent all-rounders for use in the hobby sector. Even with our cheapest model, you can work safely and precisely.

18 mm blades

18 mm blades are designed for all cutting work that requires more force and when firmer and thicker materials such as carpeting or linoleum need to be cut cleanly. With this blade width, you also have the choice between high-quality economical blades or those with an ergonomic handle that is comfortable to hold for long periods of time.

25 mm blades

25 mm blades are more commonly found in the professional sector, as they can be used to cut through solid materials such as rubber or leather. These wide blades are extremely robust and, as the handle is also wider, fit very well in the hand.

Replacement blades

WPTrading offers replacement blades for all blade widths. Over time, the extremely sharp blades of the carpet knives become blunt. With segment blades, you have the advantage of simply breaking off the upper worn part at the predetermined breaking point. The next segment is sharp and as good as new. But here too, all segments will eventually be broken off and used. Replacements are available in our shop for this type of blade as well as for fixed trapezoid or hook blades. The best thing is: the handle does not need to be replaced, simply insert a new blade insert.
