The transport route and type of transport also play a role. Strapping bands also serve as a reliable seal, as they cannot be resealed once they have been cut.

Areas of application for strapping bands

We offer different types of strapping depending on the area of application. All of them fulfil the immensely important function of securing shipments. However, this is only guaranteed if you choose the right packaging strap dimensions. It is important to avoid overdimensioning, as otherwise the correct strap tension cannot be achieved.

Strapping must also be elastic, as packaged goods can change due to various external factors after packaging. These factors include static loads, extreme temperatures such as heat and cold or UV radiation. Weather influences such as dryness and rain or dynamic loads caused by movement of the package during the transport process can also have an impact.

Polypropylene (PP) strapping are available in core diameters of 200, 280 or 406 mm and can be processed manually as well as with semi-automatic and fully automatic strapping machines. They are available in widths between 9 and 16 mm. A major advantage of PP is its elasticity. It is primarily suitable for light to medium-weight packages and is intended for short to medium-term storage in buildings as well as short to medium-length transport routes.

With PET (polyethylene terephthalate) is a polyester mould that is more stable than PP strapping. In addition to being less stretchy, it is also stronger and UV-stable, so you can also store products outdoors. The straps are welded using strapping machines or battery-powered strapping tools.

Quality criteria for strapping

There are various aspects to consider when choosing the right strapping: Elasticity, tension stability and resistance to splitting and splicing are particularly important here. The breaking load also plays a major role: this indicates the tensile strength in relation to the dimensions of the strap.
